Sino-German Institute @ htw saar

Since 2008, htw saar has continuously refined and consolidated its contact with China. It currently maintains contacts with several universities and institutions of higher education throughout China. Although initial emphasis has been put on the exchange of students, especially by joining the CDHAW Consortium 2010, it quickly became apparent that points of connection exist on other levels as well.

In order to concentrate, intensify and render visible htw saar's activities regarding China, the German-Chinese institute CDI was founded at htw saar in January 2015.

The portfolio of the CDI@htwsaar is currently built upon two main pillars: further training and research. The training programs are designed for Chinese university employees – both administration and teaching staff – and geared toward supporting the establishment of universities of applied sciences based on the German model.

In the area of research, the application-oriented discussion of topics in the "Industry 4.0" environment is highlighted, not least against the background of the German-Chinese government consultations in October 2014. As part of this process, contacts to both local and Chinese companies are an indispensable component.

The cross-section of both pillars is formed by the "Testfield Digitization in Production" which supports the further training of Industry 4.0 personnel.

In addition to these points of emphasis, the CDI@htwsaar serves as an intermediary in general and provides administrative and intercultural support to projects with Chinese partners.
