Application procedure

International applicants with foreign educational credentials must apply online via the service agency for international students uni-ASSIST.

We recommend that you submit the accompanying documents to uni-ASSIST at least 6 weeks before the deadline. The date of incoming mail will apply.

National students with a university entrance qualification can apply via the online application tool. 

Application documents

(Please refer to the information provided on the uni-ASSIST online application portal)

  • Higher education entrance certificate / Secondary school leaving certificate with list of grades attained (also required when applying for Master’s degree programmes)
  • Proof that applicant has passed the entrance examination required for admission to an institution of higher education in applicant’s home country
  • Proof of completed periods of university study, university qualifications
  • Proof of adequate proficiency in German
  • Applicants from China, Vietnam or Mongolia must provide a certificate (original document only) from the relevant academic verification centre (APS – Akademische Prüfstelle)

All certificates and supporting documents submitted must be officially certified copies and must be accompanied by an officially certified translation.

Note: Translations are not required if the original documents are in English.

Application deadlines

All Bachelor’s degree programs and most of the Master’s programs only accept new students for the winter term.

The application deadline for the winter term is 15 July.

The following Master's programs accept new students for the summer term.

 

  • M.Eng. Civil Engineering
  • M.Sc. Biomedical Engineering
  • M.Sc. Mechatronics and Sensor Technology
  • M.Sc. Industrial Engineering
  • B.Sc. Aviation Business – Piloting and Airline Management (part-time program for working professionals)

Our Admissions Office can provide information on possible extensions to application deadlines for degree programs that are not subject to entry restrictions.

Costs

At present we charge no tuition fees! However, all students have to pay the term fee.

The term fee for a single term is €188.- (summer term 2017).

This mandatory fee is not a tuition fee, but entitles students to free public transport within the university's local region as well as discounts for meals, reduced-price tickets, etc within the local Saarland region.
